The first thing you need to do is to try formatting the drive. If your drive has a lock switch, press it in the unlocked position then attempt to format it. If it doesn't this kind of switch, and the format fails, you will have to replace the device with a new one. This kind of behavior is typical for broken devices. Unfortunately, no matter you try, the device will always give you errors.
Every time I try to uninstall DDR Pen Drive Recovery I get a message saying "Cannot open the deployment log C:\Program Files (x86)\DDR- Pen Drive Recovery(Demo)/Deploy.log which is needed to perform the uninstall". I have looked in the Program Files and the deploy log is not there. How do I uninstall the DDR software?

If the application refuses to uninstall, it means the log who stored all the paths to the files is lost, therefor uninstaller can't locate the program on your computer. However, you can use Revo Uninstaller. Even if it can't uninstall the application normally, it will force it to uninstall by wiping out all traces of its presence from the system.
Additionally, use the Advanced Method of Revo and search the program on that list just to be sure it has been removed.
